October 2007What's NewFifth Graders Speak Out for Water
The very next week the students reported that they had applied the Water – Use It Wisely static clings to their bathroom mirrors and talked to their family about conserving water at home. A few students even reported implementing some of the Water – Use It Wisely tips like taking shorter showers and turning the tap off when brushing their teeth. But that wasn’t enough for these kids. They wanted to take their message to a larger audience. So they presented the Water – Use It Wisely conservation message to a group of over 100 people made up of students and their parents. These fifth graders talked about the importance of water as a resource and the need to conserve it, while also calling attention to the issue of water pollution. To get the audience really thinking about water, they asked questions, awarding people a Water – Use It Wisely static cling and tips bookmark if they answered the question correctly. Great job kids!
