Pass the Hat for Water Conservation

Water may be blue but to show support for water conservation, the color is red and it’s all over the world. There are 100 bright red caps sporting the Water – Use It Wisely logo making their way, one head at a time, around the globe. Spot one in Greece, the UK, the US, Canada or anywhere else, take a picture and send it to us at redcap@wateruseitwisely.com. We’ve asked everyone who gets a cap to take a fun and creative picture showing where they are, send it to us with their water-saving tip, then pass it on to someone else who will do the same. Each cap is numbered so we can track them as they travel from noggin to noggin. Visit the Red Cap page on Water - Use It Wisely to see how far the red caps have traveled.

Welcome New Partners from East Coast to West Coast

Proving that water conservation is important no matter what side of the U.S. you live on, and demonstrating the flexibility and versatility of the program, Water – Use It Wisely welcomes two communities to our partnership. The Town of Wake Forest, North Carolina, needed a conservation education program for their residents and chose the Water – Use It Wisely Starter Package to get the ball rolling. The City of Sedona, Arizona, chose a multimedia solution that includes newspaper, magazine, and theater advertising, in addition to a customized brochure, for their residents and more than four million annual visitors. Two different regions, two different needs, two new partners using one proven conservation program.

Wayne Drop and Kids

Continuing the success of Water – Use It Wisely in North Carolina, the WaterWise Partners enter their third year with the program. The Cities of Raleigh, Durham, Greensboro, High Point and Wilmington, along with Greenville Utilities and Fayetteville Public Works Commission, together make up the North Carolina WaterWise Partnership. Consistency in their messaging supports the program’s continuing success. In the accompanying photo, Wayne Drop, the Water – Use It Wisely mascot, makes a guest appearance at a city council meeting.
