Proclaims April “Water – Use It Wisely Month”

Lowe’s, the cities of Arizona, SRP and manufacturers
of water-related products are hosting “Water – Use
It Wisely Month” in all Arizona Lowe’s stores.
By pooling their resources, this unique public/private partnership
is educating consumers on plants, products and appliances that
will help save water around the home.
During the promotion, in-store signage directs consumers to
water-saving products, while a special area of the garden department
showcases low water-use plants. Weekend How-To Clinics show
consumers effective ways to save water around their homes.
Topics include:
-Lowering Your Water Bill
-Planting to Attract Hummingbirds and Butterflies
-Selecting an Irrigation Timer
-Summerizing Your Landscape
"This campaign is an ideal way to help educate the public and provide them with
useful information that can help our entire state understand how to better conserve
water,” said Tom Babcock, City of Phoenix Water Conservation Coordinator.
A contest to help consumers assess their water conservation knowledge has been
built into the promotion. Consumers can visit the Water – Use It Wisely
website, answer a few simple questions about saving water and be entered for
a chance to win a Fisher&Paykel washer and dryer set.
Several promotional partners are supporting the campaign, including SRP, Fluidmaster,
Rain Bird, Fisher&Paykel, Swan, Quickie, Western Organics, Hines Horticulture
and Tucson Water.
When discussing the importance of the promotion’s message, Bruce Halin,
manager of business development at SRP, said “Conservation and water stewardship
have to be a lifestyle – the way we live and adapt to a desert environment.”
