Billboards to be Recognized
In its first venture into outdoor advertising, the Water –
Use It Wisely campaign is running billboards in Georgia. These
billboards, which feature classic Water – Use It Wisely images
and headlines, have been nominated for an OBIE award, outdoor
advertising's highest honor, sponsored by the Outdoor Advertising
Association of America. This award is the oldest and among
the most sought-after honors for creative
excellence in the world of advertising.
Nolen P. Nelson, an account executive with Viacom in Atlanta,
said, “Water – Use It Wisely is an outstanding
example of creative excellence in the public service category.
Viacom Outdoor is proud to sponsor it as an OBIE entry.”
Just to be submitted as an entry for this award is a great
accomplishment. First, Viacom’s New York office asks
its account executives across the country to submit outdoor
creative from their area they deem worthy of an OBIE entry.
These recommendations are reviewed by the New York office.
Among the approximately 200 recommendations from across the
country, only 50 were chosen for submission by Viacom Outdoor.
