And the Winner is...

For the third time since its inception, the Water – Use It Wisely program has received a Valley Forward Crescordia Award. The Crescordia is a top honor given by the Valley Forward Association, which recognizes special achievement in environmental excellence. The award recognized the month-long "100 Ways in 30 Days to Save Water" promotion created by Water – Use It Wisely for Phoenix, Scottsdale, Mesa and the Arizona Department of Water Resources. Sponsored by Salt River Project and hosted at 39 Home Depot stores throughout Arizona, the promotion educated consumers on water-saving products and behaviors with hands-on training and weekend workshops covering topics from fixing leaks to xeriscaping.

While the Valley Forward Association awarded the promotion's environmental contribution, a recent article in Stanford University’s Social Innovation Review recognized the event’s unique public/private partnership in the article "Best of Breed," which featured innovative corporate and social marketing programs.

In addition, the Water – Use It Wisely program continues to gain recognition from the general public. A recent survey conducted by the Behavior Research Center found that eight out of ten residents in the Phoenix metro area recall the Water – Use It Wisely slogan, while over half recall the "There are a number of ways to save water, and they all start with you" theme line.
