| Campaign Takes Home Another Three
The Utility Communicators International Better Communications Competition awarded the Water – Use It Wisely campaign in three categories at the ceremony recently held in Orlando, Florida. The campaign took home a silver for Best Overall Campaign, a bronze for Best Magazine Ad, and a bronze for Best Newspaper Series.
The campaign was submitted in the largest category size, competing with companies that service over 500,000 customers in the areas of gas, electric and water. Out of 131 winners, Water – Use It Wisely was the only water conservation campaign recognized.
Accepting the awards at the ceremony on behalf of the campaign was Park Howell, president of Park&Co. "We are proud of the recognition the campaign has received from our peers. However, it's even more gratifying to see the success the campaign is having with consumers and that it is being adopted by cities and states nationally," he said.
A third study was recently conducted by the Behavior Research Center to measure the campaign awareness in the Arizona, which is in its fifth year of the campaign. Survey findings found that 80% of residents recall the Water – Use It Wisely tagline, while 51% recognize the slogan, "There are a number of ways to save water, and they all start with you." These results represent a statistically significant 43-point increase since before the Water – Use It Wisely water conservation campaign started in Arizona.
Water – Use It Wisely has experienced some rapid growth recently and would like to welcome the City of Wilmington, City of Fayetteville and the City of Yuma to the national coalition. Each city is launching their campaign with a Water – Use It Wisely Starter Package.
