| Virginia, D.C. & North Carolina Water Partners Brave Storm
Water – Use It Wisely partners across the country have been asking us about our east coast friends who are facing the damages of Hurricane Isabel. Reports have come in that despite major power outages, and considerable amounts of flooding, our partners have weathered the storm.
Nancy Howard with Newport News, Virginia, said, "A considerable number of trees were blown down, but thankfully my area didn’t sustain as much damage as it could have. Unfortunately, the Virginia Peninsula, where I live, still won’t have power until Thursday."
Jim Shell with the Council of Governments in Washington D.C. reported, "Rain and wind was not as bad as anticipated, although the wind damage caused extensive power outages. There are still quite a few folks in the Washington region without power even now."
Perry Kairis of High Point, North Carolina commented, "High Point fared pretty well...only 2 inches of rain and some winds up to 45 mph. Several tree limbs down and flooding calls but nothing like the communities to our east. It is nice to know we are part of a partnership that is genuinely concerned and really cares."
As the rest of us watch for updates on TV, we want our East Coast partners to know that our thoughts are with you.
